ALABASTER – One of the most decorated players in Thompson history is making his name in college football, and now, Peter Woods returns to his hometown to teach his trade to the next generation.
Woods announced on his personal social media accounts that the Peter Woods Football Skills and Leadership Camp Presented By Woo’s World will take place on Saturday, July 26 from 8 a.m.-noon at Thompson High School.
Woods will lead campers from ages 6-13 through a series of football drills and provide instruction throughout the four-hour camp.
Woods will hold the camp at his alma mater of Thompson, where he helped the Warriors win four-straight Class 7A football state championships from 2019-2022. He capped his career off with 89 tackles, 24 tackles for loss and 11 sacks during his senior season in 2022, and he helped Thompson allow 14 points or less in 11 of its 14 games that season.
He won Class 7A Lineman of the Year as a result and was selected to the Under Armour All-American Game. He earned a spot on the Class 7A All-State First Team for the second-straight season and went on to win MVP at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic with eight tackles, seven tackles for loss and two sacks.
Woods went on to Clemson as a five-star recruit and quickly worked his way onto the field as a freshman in 2023. He was named a Freshman All-American by five different outlets including the FWAA, 247Sports and On3 thanks to his 27 tackles and 10 quarterback pressures in 12 appearances and two starts.
He repeated his success in 2024 after becoming a 10-game starter with 32 tackles, 8.5 tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble in 11 appearances. That included an ACC Championship for the Tigers which punched their ticket to the College Football Playoff, where Woods recorded eight tackles in a first-round loss at Texas.
Because of his success in the purple and orange, he is currently projected by CBS Sports as a top-five pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Registration is free to the first 175 sign-ups at Eventcreate.com/e/pwoocamp . Check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m. ahead of the start of camp at 8 a.m. The camp will provide snacks for attendees.
