HOOVER – Starting the day strong in the middle of the work week, numerous owners of small businesses in Hoover joined together to network and learn about how to improve their business at the Hoover Small Business Alliance Breakfast.

The breakfast, which was held on Wednesday, June 25 at Canvas Church, allowed for small business owners to come together and meet each other while also learning about strategies they can use in the future.

Traci Fox, founder of the Hoover Small Business Alliance expressed how happy she was to see the many business owners that attended, knowing it was a good sign that having small businesses throughout the city is not in danger and that it is continually on a positive trend.

“The energy in the room was inspiring,” Fox said. “People were genuinely excited to connect, collaborate and support one another. After the challenges of COVID, gatherings like this serve as a powerful reminder that we’re not in this alone. The sense of community and shared purpose was very evident, and it gave many of us a renewed sense of motivation and hope.”

After a short time of getting to network with each other, all of the owners came to listen to a panel on the challenges of hiring employees to small businesses and how they can improve that process.

The panel was moderated by former Alabama State Rep. Paul DeMarco, who led a discussion with Frank Petrusnek of InTime Staffing, Kelly Rainer of Career Personnel and Brian Pitts of ITAC Solutions. Each panelist provided their own insight on how helping out with hiring employees can be helpful and what owners need to look out for in the years ahead.

Fox discussed how grateful she was that DeMarco helped lead a discussion for the alliance once again, as he has made a point to support small businesses for a long time.

“Paul brings a wealth of knowledge to these conversations,” Fox said. “His ability to guide relevant dialogue with our panelists on hiring challenges was incredibly helpful. He’s been with us from the start and his leadership continues to elevate the conversation and bring valuable perspectives to the table.”

As a group that continues to try and be active with its members, the Hoover Small Business Alliance hosts multiple panels each year, allowing its owners to continue learning about how they can set a positive trend for the future of their business.

The panels and breakfasts continue to serve as a method to help answer any questions the owners have and how owners can push themselves higher and higher each year.

“Our hope is that every small business owner walked away with actionable insights, new connections and a sense of encouragements,” Fox said. “Events like this are designed to be more than just breakfast; they’re about building relationships and having the very best professionals share their expertise that can help sustain and grow our businesses for the long term.”
