NXS Gym in Calera temporarily closed after fire breaks out

CALERA – Servpro of Birmingham are currently working on the NXS Gym on Highway 70 in Calera after a fire broke out and damaged the facility.

On the night of Wednesday, July 2, a fire broke out at the back of NXS Gym on Highway 70 and spread inside damaging the middle gym and causing signifigant damage to the main gym. There is smoke damage throughout the entire building as a result of the fire. Fire walls installed in the facility helped to contain and limit the blaze but the fire still significantly damaged the building.

On Thursday, July 3, NXS Gym took to Facebook to share the news of its temporary closure with customers. In the post, the business expressed its gratitude for the local fire departments which handled the situation.

“Thanks to the wonderful local fire departments they were able to extinguish the fire,” read an official Facebook post by NXS Gym.

The cause of the fire has been confirmed to originate at the back of the facility but details on what began the blaze have not been released to the public.

The owners of the business expressed on social media that their faith will help them in overcoming this difficult situation.

“We are certain that this challenge did not surprise our Lord Jesus Christ and that He will faithfully see us through this season,” read a Facebook post by NXS Gym. “He does not promise a life without difficulty, but He does promise to be with us. We are excited to see His faithfulness in this season.”

Servpro of Birmingham, located in Pelham, is currently overseeing the repair and restoration of the facility. The owners of NXS Gym shared that they have full assurance that they will be loving athletes and helping them with their goals again soon.

“We are thankful there was no loss of life or bodily injury,” read a post by NXS Gym. “We are thankful the fire was spotted and reported. We are thankful for the crews who worked tirelessly to mitigate the damages. We are thankful for all support that was already shown last night from friends and families. We are thankful the damage was not as severe as it could have been. We are thankful, and we have hope a brighter future is coming.

After the business shared the new on social media, community members and customers expressed their gratitude and condolences for the fire.

The business indicated that it would appreciate the prayers of customers as it continues to navigate this situation and that they welcome ideas and suggestions from community members.

“We know there are many questions left unanswered at the moment,” read the post. “We do not have all of the answers yet, but we will keep everyone updated as we find solutions.”
