Jefferson State Community College, at the celebration of its 60th anniversary, announced a new enrollment record for the 2025 fall semester.
The college welcomed 10,470 students this fall, breaking the previous record set in 2010 by 800 students. Student enrollment at Jefferson State has steadily increased over the last three years.
“Jefferson State has remained focused on meeting the needs of students, and the increased enrollment trend is a testament to the college providing a quality, affordable and accessible education,” said Jefferson State President Keith Brown. “Recent data has shown Jefferson State is the most popular college choice among graduating high school students in the Greater Birmingham Area, and this fall’s record enrollment highlights the trust our community has in Jefferson State.”
As Alabama’s largest community college, Jefferson State offers education and workforce training online and at four campuses in Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair and Chilton counties. Jefferson State currently offers more than 116 university transfer programs, 40 career and technical education programs, 30 short certificate “fast-track” programs and more than 100 course options in dual enrollment.
