MONTEVALLO – The Montevallo Police Department is inviting the community to come together for an evening of fun, connection and safety awareness as the city hosts its annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Orr Park’s Pecan Grove.

The free, family-friendly event is designed to strengthen relationships between residents and first responders while promoting public safety and community unity.

“Montevallo’s National Night Out event is a free, family-friendly gathering designed to strengthen community bonds and raise safety awareness,” said Jennifer Toliver, Assistant to the Chief and Community Policing Liaison for the Montevallo Police Department. “We have participated in this amazing event for the past ten years, and it has seen tremendous growth.”

Last year, Montevallo’s National Night Out drew more than 750 attendees and over 40 community resources and sponsors, making it one of the city’s largest community events of the year. Toliver said organizers are hoping to surpass that turnout in 2025.

The evening will feature children’s activities such as face painting, games and interactive safety demonstrations, as well as opportunities for residents to meet local first responders and explore the many organizations that serve the Montevallo community. Attendees can also enjoy a free hot dog meal while connecting with neighbors, police officers and other city personnel.

A highlight of the night will be the free giveaway, with prizes including first aid kits, emergency weather radios, a Ring doorbell, auto roadside kits, carbon monoxide detectors, home security lighting, power bank chargers, and gift cards from Home Depot and Lowe’s. Other prizes include fire safety blankets, a True Chopper knife and a Dewalt Mechanics set. Participants can sign up at the event, with winners announced the following day, Wednesday, Oct. 15, at noon on the department’s Facebook page.

“Our National Night Out has brought community members from near and far together over the years,” Toliver said. “Last year, we introduced a free giveaway that was met with great excitement, resulting in many happy prize winners.”

The event, held annually in partnership with community sponsors and local organizations, aims to foster trust between residents and first responders while celebrating the spirit of Montevallo.

“We invite you to plan to attend this year’s event as we aim to provide an exceptional experience for all,” Toliver said. “Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to connect with your neighbors and local heroes while learning more about the wide range of community resources available.”

Montevallo’s National Night Out will take place at Pecan Grove in Orr Park, located at 940 Island Street.
