PELHAM – Pelham City Park is set to receive several major improvements designed to enhance the experience for athletes, families and visitors as part of the city’s ongoing investment in recreation and community spaces.
The city announced plans to add six new covered batting cages, a new concession stand and a new restroom facility at the park, expanding amenities for both local sports programs and community events.
“Pelham City Park is one of our most active community spaces, and these upgrades reflect our continued investment in providing top-quality facilities for residents and visitors,” said Brian Cooper, director of Pelham Parks and Recreation. “We’re excited to bring these improvements to life and to continue enhancing the recreational experience here in Pelham.”
Construction has already begun near the main entrance to the baseball fields and is expected to continue for approximately eight months. While the area will remain open to the public, city officials are asking walkers and parkgoers to use extra caution near construction equipment and to consider adjusting routes to avoid the work zone.
City leaders said the additions will help support Pelham’s growing recreation programs and improve accessibility and comfort for park users.
Pelham Parks and Recreation emphasized that the project aligns with its mission to foster community connections, promote active lifestyles and maintain safe, welcoming spaces for residents and visitors.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the project will be held Friday, Nov. 14, at 3:30 p.m. at the City Park baseball fields. The public is invited to attend.
