Pelham participating in Alabama Tourism’s April Walking Tours

FROM STAFF REPORTS

PELHAM – The city of Pelham has announced its participation in the Alabama Tourism Department’s April Walking Tours in 2025.

The free, guided tours will begin at 10 a.m. every Saturday in the month of April. The tours will start at the Pelham Greenway Trailhead, located at 2020 Pelham Park Blvd.

The tours will be led by the Pelham Garden Club and are set to highlight the club’s ongoing conservation and beautification projects along the Pelham Greenway Trail.

Participants of the tours will learn about invasive species management, the promotion of native species, creek cleanup efforts, the Bluebird House Project and the Bee City USA Initiatives.

The Bluebird House Project involves the installation and upkeep of bluebird nesting boxes, while the Bee City USA Initiatives consist of projects aimed at creating sustainable habitats for pollinators in the area.

“These tours offer a unique opportunity to engage with the community, enjoy the natural beauty of the Pelham Greenway Trail and learn about local environmental efforts,” read a statement on the city of Pelham’s website. “We encourage all residents and visitors to join us in celebrating Pelham’s rich natural heritage.”

No prior registration for the tours is required; participants are simply asked to meet at the trailhead before the tour begins. Comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate attire are recommended.
