ALABASTER – With different specialties and similar visions, two Alabaster women joined forces to create one spa destination to offer a wide variety of holistic treatments from IV infusions to ketamine assisted psychotherapy.

The two businesses, All In Care and NeuroSpa, operate under one roof in Alabaster’s Siluria Station and celebrated a grand opening on Aug. 7. Although they remain two separate entities, the businesses work in tandem to achieve the same goal of fostering an environment of healing.

The partnership between Shannon Cook of All In Care and Cherie Dopson began with a single conversation.

With more than two decades of experience in hospice care, Cook decided to make a career change after a battle with cancer. According to Cook, her journey taught her more about how to take care of the human body and she wanted to pass that knowledge on to others.

“This wellness community is all new for me,” Cook said. “All the things that I’ve learned, I want to educate everybody else about it. It’s a whole new journey, but I’m learning something every single day of how to take care of our bodies in a natural way.”

All in Care started as a membership service for mobile hydration on demand, but as Cook’s love for the industry grew, so did her ambitions. One day, Cook had a conversation with Dopson about her idea to start an infusion spa, and Dopson shared that she had a similar desire.

Dopson is the owner of Warrior Wellness Group, a counseling practice in Alabaster. In her time there, she encountered several patients that needed more than just counseling, such as veterans with PTSD or those with treatment resistant depression.

In response, Dopson wanted to explore alternative methods of treatment for these individuals.

“There were a lot of things that we couldn’t do inside of (the counseling practice),” Dopson said. “We just needed some kind of extension to send people.”

Dopson was interested in exploring microcurrent neurofeedback and ketamine infusions as treatment options for her patients, and even got a grant from the VA to offer these services for veterans. But because the grant only partially funded the project, Dopson looked into providing wellness solutions to generate profit to help fund her work with veterans.

“I created all of these wellness services that create the revenue to go into the veteran care, so everybody who comes here is supporting a veteran,” Dopson said. “Basically, every service here, a veteran can get one for free.”

When Dopson explained her idea to Cook, the two agreed to go into business together. At the spa, All In Care and NeuroSpa work in tandem to provide a multitude of services including IV infusions, ionic foot cleanses, red light therapy, ketamine assisted psychotherapy and a migraine suite.

According to Cook, the most important part of the services offered at the spa is creating an environment that fosters health in every aspect of the word.

“By coming together, (we can) create a space that feels less like hospital—that people don’t feel ashamed to come in,” Cook said. “Mental health is just as important as physical health. Mind, body, spirit. (We’re) bringing it all together with this kind of vision for our community.”
