China Mix opens for business in Montevallo

MONTEVALLO – A new restaurant combining both Chinese and Japanese cuisine has opened its doors in the heart of Montevallo.

China Mix, which is located in Montevallo’s Main Street district, features fresh ingredients and quality service to deliver Montevallo residents a variety of meals rooted in traditional Chinese and Japanese food options.

The business is co-owned by Enrique and Luis Sanchez, who are father and son. Luis cited his father’s rich history in the restaurant business as part of the reasoning for opening the establishment.

“My dad had worked at a Chinese restaurant for 25-plus years of his life,” Luis said.  “He always wanted to open his own shop. We were looking around the Pelham, Alabaster and Montevallo areas (for a place) to open up, and out of all the areas we looked at… we decided to open here in Montevallo.”

Luis added that customer feedback to the restaurant’s hospitality and cuisine has been exceptional so far.

“Customers have been loving our food,” Luis said. “Our bestsellers are basically anything fried, like the sesame chicken, orange chicken and sweet and sour chicken. (The customers) do love the lo mein as well and the fried rice from what I have been told.”

Now that China Mix is firmly entrenched in Montevallo’s Main Street district, Luis shared his long-term vision for the restaurant.

“We want this location to stay steady,” Luis said. “We’ll try to open up another spot as well and also keep one here in Montevallo…. We still don’t know (the future), we’re not too certain.”

For now, Luis and his father will remain committed to serving Asian cuisine in the heart of Montevallo. For more information on China Mix, visit its website at Chinamixrestaurant.com.
