Pelham students participate in Careers on Wheels event

FROM STAFF REPORTS

PELHAM – Students at Pelham Ridge and Pelham Oaks Elementary schools got an early glimpse of what their future could look like at the annual Careers on Wheels event held on Friday, May 2.

During the event, kindergartners and first graders had the opportunity to interact with professionals in a variety of fields that used trucks and cars in their daily work, including the Pelham Fire Department and the Pelham Police Department.

Michelle LeSueur, the college and career counselor for Pelham City Schools, outlined the main themes of the event.

“Our Careers on Wheels is an annual event at both Pelham Ridge and Pelham Oaks Elementary Schools,” LeSueur said. “It is a fantastic way to introduce our young students to a variety of careers in an interactive, hands-on format. The idea is to bring professionals whose jobs involve vehicles or mobile equipment so our students can learn through exploration and conversation and to have some fun, too.”

LeSueur then described how the day fits into her role of preparing students for future success.

“As the college and career counselor for Pelham City Schools, my goal is to use this event to introduce students to a variety of community helpers and professionals, spark curiosity and excitement about future careers and build awareness of how different jobs help our community,” LeSueur said.
