VINCENT – The city of Vincent hosted a Christmas parade on Friday, Dec. 6, celebrating the 2024 holiday season with a combination of decorative floats, holiday-themed activities and the opportunity to meet Santa Claus.

While this year’s installment of the parade had no particular heme, Helen Thweatt, the city clerk or Vincent, said that the parade itself was made for a younger audience.

“I think everybody enjoyed themselves for the parade,” Thweatt said. “It as geared more for kids, and I think they had a really good time with it.”

Among the various floats featured in the parade, two won awards for overall decoration. The Vandiver Church of God won first place float decoration while First Baptist Church Vincent took the runner-up position.

According to Thweatt, between 600-700 people turned out for the parade, and attendees were able to enjoy various activities to get in the Christmas spirit.

“We had food vendors, including three food trucks,” Thweatt said. ‘’We had a snow machine. We had different little cutouts that kids could pose in.”

The amount of holiday spirit at the parade was evident for all to see thanks to the amount of hristmas-themed activities offered, and the event also featured various musical ensembles to spread the sound of holiday cheer.

“The spirit of the event was great,” Thweatt said. ‘’The kids I think all had fun. We had a choir, the band played and then did a concert at the city hall.”

The event also featured various storefronts decorated in the hopes of winning the Downtown Storefront competition. The winner this year was the Vincent Water Board.

With a high crowd turnout, decorative floats and entertaining activities the city of Vincent’s 2024 Christmas Parade offered attendees a holistic holiday experience and a celebration of the best the season has to offer.
