Local Daughters of the American Revolution members attend state conference

MONTEVALLO – Members of the David Lindsay Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution attended the 127th State Conference of the Alabama Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

The conference was held from Thursday, March 6 to Saturday, March 8 in Auburn. The Alabama Society DAR is led by State Regent Malinda Williams.

Virginia Grace Lingelbach, the chaplain general of the NSDAR, was the opening night speaker of the event. Lingelbach is a retired Department of Defense employee whose family has an extensive military background.

Other noted guests at the conference included Georgia State Regent Helen Powell, Pennsylvania State Regent Marguerite Fritsch, Washington State Regent Jacqueline Riddell and NSDAR National Project Patriot Committee Chair Peggy Whitcomb.

The conference featured presentations and workshops aimed at furthering the mission of NSDAR and its objectives of historic preservation, education and patriotism. Luncheons were held on Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8 at the event as well.

The Alabama Society DAR is made up of more than 4,000 women, all of whom can trace their lineage to patriots who fought for or provided aid to the American colonists during the Revolutionary War. Nationally and abroad, NSDAR has more than 185,000 members in 3,000 chapters.
