Elizabeth Moore Chocolates relocates to Pelham Promenade

PELHAM – Elizabeth Moore Chocolates, a popular Pelham chocolate shop and confectionery, is moving locations within the city.

April 2025 marks three years since Susan Notter, the owner and chocolatier of Elizabeth Moore Chocolates, introduced the brand to Pelham. With that milestone in mind, Notter and the brand is writing a new chapter, after relocating to a larger space in the Pelham Promenade shopping center away from the previous location at 2742 Pelham Parkway.

The new space contains a dedicated kitchen and expanded classroom area, opening new doors and opportunities for the growth of the business.

Notter discussed the inspiration behind the creation of Elizabeth Moore Chocolates, and how her journey has taken shape over the past couple of years.

“We opened three years ago in Pelham,” Notter said. “I’ve been in the confectionery and pastry world all of my life, but I had the opportunity to actually do something and open up my own business. It’s a lifelong dream, doing what I love everyday but still working in the same field that I’ve always worked in.”

The name “Elizabeth Moore” comes from Notter, as Elizabeth is her middle name while Moore is her maiden name. When looking back at the first location on Pelham Parkway, Notter is most proud of the relationships the business was able to cultivate.

“The customer following that we were able to develop (was impressive),” Notter said. “(We were) gradually building the awareness and people’s appreciation of good chocolate.”

Rather than from a place of want, Notter expressed that Elizabeth Moore needed to relocate to the Pelham Promenade to continue the growth of the business.

“We teach quite a lot of classes, and we were limited on space,” Notter said. “This (new space) is 2,500 square feet… I feel it’s a more visible location as well.”

Notter plans to utilize the extra space for expanded class offerings as well as more tasty treats.

“We have now added scooped ice cream,” Notter said. “We’re working with a local ice cream manufacturer… we’re also working with Baba Java coffee, we do chocolate pairings with coffee and then we’re working with Futral Farms for a selection of pecans as well… We’re doing a number of different things that we weren’t doing before.”

Notter added that fan favorites at the confectionery include sea salt caramel and Dubai pistachio bars, and that her main hope for the space is to maintain the exponential growth the business has experienced since its inception.

“(Hopefully,) we’ll increase traffic and business,” Notter said. “We just want to continue to do what we love at the quality level that we want to keep working at. Recently, chocolate prices have increased 30 to 50 percent, and of course the tariff situation is a little worrying, but I’m not willing to compromise the quality of what we use even if the price that we have to pay for the product goes up.”

Notter believes that staying in Pelham has been a huge reason why the business has seen sustained success.

“A lot of our customers that live locally appreciate the fact that we’re here,” Notter said. “That they can come to store and buy a quality product without having to go out of the area. Our most asked question is ‘Why are you in Pelham?’ Honestly, it’s economics. If we can have something that’s so unique and draws people to us without paying horrendous rent… We do this because we love to do it.”
