Fire contained at Pelham furniture store; no injuries reported

FROM STAFF REPORTS

PELHAM – Firefighters responded to a blaze in the afternoon on Monday, June 30 at Summer Classics Furniture on Pelham Parkway, where a solar panel atop the building caught fire, according to officials with the Pelham Fire Department.

The fire was reported shortly before 4:00 p.m., prompting a swift response from Pelham fire crews. The department confirmed that the blaze was caused by a rooftop solar panel that ignited, leading to visible smoke from the structure.

Battalion 90 of the Pelham Fire Department led the response effort and successfully extinguished the fire shortly after arriving on scene. No injuries were reported, and crews remained on-site to ensure the area was fully secured.

City officials said containment efforts were efficient and that damage was limited thanks to the quick actions of emergency personnel.

The cause of the panel ignition is under investigation.
