By MACKENZEE SIMMS | Staff Writer

Incumbent Jon Parker was re-elected to the Shelby County Commission’s District 3 seat on Tuesday, Nov. 5, successfully earning him a sixth term.

According to vote tallies as of Wednesday morning, the incumbent Parker secured 6,359 votes (63.51 percent). His opponent, Democrat Bobby “CP” Pierson, received 3,635 votes (36.3 percent).

In terms of his victory, Parker shared that we was grateful to the citizens of Shelby County for entrusting him with another four years of service.

“I’m very thankful for the big voter turnout,” Parker shared. “Just thank you.”

In addition, Parker explained that this year, the election looked a little different for the Shelby County Commission after the Commission approved a redistricting plan in February of 2023.

“There was a new redistricting process, so I’m representing people that I have never represented before this time,” Parker said. “I’m thankful for the opportunity to do that.”

Parker was first elected to the Shelby County Commission in 2004. Now, Parker approaches the end of 20 years on the Commission as he continues his role for his sixth term.

The Shelby County Commission is a nine-member board that handles tasks such as annually approving the budget, selects county managers and attorneys, examines the monthly check register for government and proprietary funds and considers alcohol permits and licenses.

Parker graduated from Faulkner University with a degree in criminal justice and law enforcement administration. He has previously served as fire marshal for the city of Calera and is an owner of Parker Brothers Heating and Air LLC.
