PELHAM – A high-tech indoor mini-golf facility is being developed in Pelham.

The company, called Putter Up, announced the move in a Facebook post in January. Lela Turner, the founder of the company, gave some background on what inspired her to create the concept.

“In traditional mini-golf, you have your ball, your putter, your pencil and your piece of paper and you walk around and play,” Turner said. “With Putter Up, it’s all high-tech.”

The Putter Up facility will feature a digital scoring system and the ability to name your putter for unique identification. Courses at the facility will be nine holes, and each hole will feature a digital screen of the hole’s layout and the current leaderboard.

A high-tech alternative to mini-golf was not the only reason why Turner and her husband Ken decided to open the business.

“We have two teenagers, and there’s just not a lot in this area for teenagers,” Turner said. “We were looking for a place where people can come and just have a wholesome, fun and competitive night out.”

The facility will be located at Campus 124 in Pelham, and Turner explained why Putter Up will be setting up shop at that location in particular.

“We love Campus 124 because it’s really the central location for this area,” Turner said. “You’ve got great restaurants and breweries all around, so it was just a perfect location to bring something fun and entertaining to the area.”

Turner added that Putter Up plans to open at the beginning of June, and emphasized that the facility plans to collaborate with surrounding businesses in the area.

“Since it (Putter Up) is right there at (Campus) 124 you will be able to go to all the other businesses that are there,” Turner said. “Whether it’s Beer Hog or Half Shell… you can get a coffee, a beer or a pizza and bring it to our location.”
