Pelham City Council adopts streamlined parking ordinance

FROM STAFF REPORTS

PELHAM – The Pelham City Council recently adopted a new, streamlined parking ordinance designed to improve enforcement, enhance public safety and align parking regulations with modern land use and development patterns. This update establishes clearer and more consistent standards for parking throughout the city.

The new ordinance also addresses ongoing issues such as street, sidewalk and yard parking in residential neighborhoods, helping to improve traffic flow, protect property and support neighborhood aesthetics.

“Previously, parking regulations were scattered throughout the city’s code,” Assistant City Manager Justin Smith said. “This ordinance consolidates them, clarifies key areas and gives our police department and municipal court better tools for enforcement.”

While most of the content remains the same, the reorganization supports more effective governance and public safety throughout the city.

The full text of the ordinance is available on the city of Pelham’s website at Pelhamalabama.gov.
