Pelham rodeo named Best Rodeo of 2024

FROM STAFF REPORTS

PELHAM – One of the city of Pelham’s flagship events has been recognized as the premier offering at the state level.

The Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena’s 2024 Rodeo event won Alabama’s “Best Rodeo of the Year” as awarded by the Professional Cowboy Association. The event, titled the Making a Difference for Kidz Pro Rodeo, was a partnership between the civic complex, Kidz Outdoors and 3R Rodeo Company. The recognition highlights the event’s outstanding quality and its community impact.

Last year’s rodeo consisted of traditional rodeo competitions, including bull riding, team roping and more. Seth Greenberg, executive director of the Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena, believes the event is another example of the venue’s ability to field diverse events.

“We are always looking for ways to diversify the PCC and one of the events we thought would work well in Pelham was a rodeo,” Greenberg said. “This event showcases the best of professional rodeo while making a meaningful difference in the lives of the children we serve.”

Last year’s event raised more than $53,000 for Kidz Outdoors, which is an organization supporting outdoor experiences for young people.

Not only was the event awarded as “Best Rodeo of the Year” by the Professional Cowboy Association, it was also recognized with the “Humanitarian Award” for its contributions to Kidz Outdoors.

Pelham’s next rodeo event is scheduled for Saturday, July 26 at the Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena. For more information, visit Pelhamalabama.gov.
