Alabaster PD investigating officer-involved shooting

ALABASTER – The Alabaster Police Department is currently investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at approximately 10:30 p.m.

The shooting occurred after a vehicle pursuit in response to a domestic violence call that stemmed from the 1800 block of Woodbrook Trail. Upon the officers’ arrival, the suspect fled the scene, initiating a vehicle pursuit.

The chase ended when the suspect crashed near Exit 13 of Interstate 459 and exited the vehicle with a firearm. Officers fired on the suspect after he pointed his firearm at them. The suspect was pronounced deceased on the scene, and no officers were injured during the incident.

The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave per APD policy, and an independent investigation is being conducted by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
