PELHAM – Pelham has designated 18 streets within the city in need of resurfacing.

These streets will be resurfaced in the summer, with an estimated timeline for paving being May through September. The total project cost is $1.25 million.

The 2025 resurfacing plan includes the following streets:

• Chandalar Drive & Office Park Circle
• Dalton Drive
• Hunters Trace
• Huntmaster Lane
• Red Fox Drive
• Fox Hound Trail
• Royal Chase Drive
• Royal Place
• Chase Drive
• Willow Bend Road
• Ryecroft Circle
• Canyon Park Drive
• Canyon Trail
• Canyon Park Place
• Canyon Park Circle
• Cambrian Ridge Drive
• Cambrian Ridge Trail
• Tecumseh Lane

Andre Bittas, Pelham’s director f Development Services & Public Works, gave background on how streets are selected for resurfacing and the city’s overall investment in the project.

“Street resurfacing is a top priority for residents, so the City Council has invested $3 million for this over the last three years,” Bittas said. “Streets are selected using evaluations on condition, usage and street ratings. The tentative outlay is developed based on priority and upcoming utility work.”

Bittas then outlined the practical steps taken to resurface each road and how much the resurfacings will affect the neighborhoods they are being performed in.

“The first step is to mill the current road surface, which removes about an inch of the asphalt,” Bittas said. “After milling, the contractor will come in and lay an inch of new asphalt on the streets. This is neighborhood street resurfacing, so there will be inconveniences, but we try to minimize them as much as possible. There could be intermittent delays, but the streets will never be closed during the paving.”

According to Bittas, neighborhood street resurfacing is funded annually in Pelham’s capital budget, and the work on the streets is staggered.

“Investing in neighborhood street resurfacing is essential for safety, property values and overall quality of life,” Bittas said.
