Pelham City Schools closed, classes canceled on Friday, Jan. 10

PELHAM – Pelham City Schools will be closed on Friday, Jan. 10 due to the winter weather threat affecting Alabama.

“Due to the forecasted winter storm and the possibility of hazardous road conditions, Pelham City Schools will be closed and classes will be canceled on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025,” read an official Facebook post by Pelham City Schools. “Stay warm, stay safe and enjoy the day.”

Shelby County is under a Winter storm Watch with an Elevated Risk of winter weather Thursday night and on Friday. The Elevated Impact Area indicates hazardous driving conditions and possible closures and disruptions to infrastructure. According to the National Weather Service, the main impact for Shelby County is expected to come in the form of potential heavy snow that is mixed at times with sleet and freezing rain. Total snow and sleet accumulation is currently expected to be between 2 and 4 inches from late Thursday night through late Friday night.
