“Easter is going to be an amazing day at Chelsea Community Church (CCC),” Pastor Greg Davis said.
The church, which usually has three services on Sunday morning, will have one huge Easter service at the Chelsea Middle School football stadium, beginning at 10 a.m.
Afterwards a helicopter will land on the field, the pastor said, and the Easter Bunny will climb out with his bag of eggs.
The plastic eggs containing candy will be distributed around the field for the children to run out on the field and pick up, he said. “We are planning three landings for three age groups, so the little ones will have a chance to enjoy the fun, too.”
Pastor Davis said that several hundred volunteers will assist with parking, seating, the Welcome Center and other areas, and there will be free coffee, donuts and other gifts.
“We are also excited to announce that on April 15, the Sunday following Easter, we will be starting a service in the school gym at 10 a.m,” he said.
The CCC campus on Shelby County 39 will be the scene of the 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. services each Sunday morning.
All three services will have the same music and message.
“Our church is growing at a historical pace,” Davis said. “And building something is just not possible right now. But God is opening doors that are just amazing.”
He had dinner recently with Dr. Owen Weston, a church growth expert and church planter, who has planted seven of the 25 largest churches in the country, he said. Weston told him, “Greg, I don’t know if you realize this, but you guys there at The Cs are growing at a faster rate than any church I have ever been involved with.”
“We are truly blessed folks to be part of such a wonderful move of God,” Davis said.
Until Easter, Sunday morning service times are 8, 9:30 and 11 at the CCC campus.
Contact the church Monday through Friday between 9 and 4:30 at 678-9565.
