Montevallo tops Shades Mountain Christian in tournament

The Montevallo High School baseball team defeated Shades Mountain Christian School 16-9 in its spring break tournament March 21.

Chase Hamrick led the Bulldogs (17-3) at the plate as he went 2-for-3 with a triple. Hamrick finished with two stolen bases and drove in six runs in the victory.

David Shirah finished 2-for-3 with a double and a stolen base. Taylor Burr, who had two stolen bases, finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Hunter Nabors went 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and scored two runs.

Burr earned the win in relief after giving up three runs, including one earned run, on four hits with five strikeouts in four innings.

Trevor Chatham started on the mound and gave up six runs, including one earned run, on five hits with five strikeouts and two walks in three innings.
