Montevallo details voting locations

MONTEVALLO – The City of Montevallo released a list of voting locations for the Aug. 28 municipal election.

Registered and qualified electors who have resided in the corporate limits of Montevallo for at least 30 days qualify to elect a mayor and city council.

The polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Aug. 28 at the following locations:

-District 1: University Baptist Church, 440 Overland Road

-District 2: City Hall, 545 Main Street

-District 3: Orr Park Building, 420 Vine Street

-District 4: University Baptist Church, 440 Overland Road

-District 5: Orr Park Building, 420 Vine Street

If necessary, a run-off election will be held Oct. 9.

Any qualified elector who will have resided within the district from which he or she seeks election for a period of at least 90 days on Election Day may qualify to run for office by filing with the City Clerk the appropriate forms and paying any appropriate fees, as otherwise provided by law, the release stated.

The deadline to file as a candidate in the city clerk’s office at City Hall is 5 p.m. on July 17.
