Calera downs Jemison in straight sets

The Calera Eagles volleyball team swept past Jemison (25-17, 25-20, 25-16) to earn the right to host the Class 4A, Area 7 tournament.

Calera (16-6) went unbeaten in area play to post an 8-0 record.

A’Kia Harris led the Eagles with 11 kills and four digs in their win over Jemison. Keyanna Gayden added eight kills and two blocks with Elizabeth Rhinehart leading the defense with 18 digs.

Calera will travel to Columbiana to take on Shelby County on Thursday.
