ATLANTA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women’s tennis team defeated the University of West Georgia and host Clark Atlanta University in a pair of matches Feb. 24.
The Falcons defeated West Georgia 9-0. Montevallo swept all six singles’ matches and all three doubles’ matches against West Georgia.
Sophomore Niki Polcerova defeated Nicole Northrup of West Georgia 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles’ match. Junior Haley Highfield defeated Cailey Stevens of West Georgia 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles’ match.
Polcerova and Robert defeated Northrup and Stevens 8-2 in the No. 1 doubles’ match. Howell and Highfield defeated Olson and Maples 8-1 in the No. 2 doubles’ match.
Sophomore Juanita Ossa and Blair defeated Pugh and Arsenault and Raven Pugh of West Georgia 8-0 in the No. 3 doubles’ match.
Montevallo defeated host Clark Atlanta 7-2. The Falcons won five of six singles’ matches and two of three doubles’ matches against West Georgia.
Polcerova defeated Vanessa Jean-Baptiste of Clark Atlanta 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles’ match. Highfield defeated Vonnick Boyogueno of Clark Atlanta 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 2 singles’ match.
Howell defeated Brionne Bachus of Clark Atlanta 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 3 singles’ match. Robert defeated Zolia Cadena of Clark Atlanta 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 4 singles’ match.
Blair defeated Asia Boyd of Clark Atlanta 7-5, 2-0 in the No. 5 singles’ match. Stevens fell to Ivory Conley of Clark Atlanta 6-1, 2-6, 10-1 in the No. 6 singles’ match.
Polcerova and Robert defeated Bachus and Boyogueno 8-2 in the No. 1 doubles’ match. Howell and Highfield defeated Conley and Boyd 8-4 in the No. 2 doubles’ match.
Jean-Baptiste and Kasey Dawson of Clark Atlanta defeated Blair and Ossa 9-8 in the No. 3 doubles’ match.
The Falcons will return to action with a pair of Peach Belt Conference matches next weekend. Montevallo will host Georgia College in a conference match March 2 at 10 a.m. The Falcons will host Augusta State University in a conference match March 3 at 11 a.m.
