Dragon Boat races at Oak Mountain postponed

FROM STAFF REPORTS

The Birmingham Dragon Boat Festival, scheduled for Sept. 28 at Oak Mountain State Park, has been rescheduled for April 26, 2014.

Officials for High Five Dragon Boat, LLC, the sanctioning body for the event, cited not having enough time between events to promote the event adequately as the reason for postponing it.

Participants were contacted first and given a refund, while being encouraged to participate in the spring event. Registration will remain open until the week before the April 26 race.

The decision was made in conjunction with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama, with the partnership between the two groups still in place and focused on the April event.
