The Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors approved the organization’s 2014 business plan at its regular meeting Dec. 18.

Prior to its approval, the 2014 plan was developed with input from the Chamber’s six “work groups” that met throughout the 2013 calendar year. The work groups include existing business and industry, small business, governmental affairs, education, health services and ambassadors.

“In addition to carrying out the 2013 program of work, these volunteers and Chamber staff have been working on what the Chamber’s 2014 plans will be,” Chamber President and CEO Kirk Mancer said in a news release. “We’ve set a solid foundation during this past year under 2013 Chamber Chair David Nolen of Renasant Bank’s leadership. With the Board of Directors approval we’re ready to hit the ground running in 2014 and build on that progress with 2014 Chamber Chair Bill Keller of Regions Bank’s guidance.”

Mercer said the 2014 plan is tied to ShelbyOne, the five-year strategic plan developed by Shelby County business and community leaders in 2011. ShelbyOne focuses on four key areas: business support and development, community and workforce development, governmental relations and communications.
