ALABASTER – Alabaster resident and former contestant on the show “Dancing with the Stars” Noah Galloway is no longer engaged to his girlfriend after proposing to her on the show in May, according to Galloway.

Galloway surprised his girlfriend, former WZZK on-air radio personality Jamie Boyd, by proposing to her on the show on May 11.

After receiving his scores from the show’s judges on May 11, Galloway surprised everyone in attendance during the backstage interview, taking a break from talking with show host Erin Andrews to pop the question to Boyd.

After Boyd said yes, the two embraced as the show’s audience and Galloway’s fellow contestants cheered the couple on.

In late March, Boyd, who was completing U.S. Army basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri, surprised Galloway on-air by making an unannounced visit to the show.

But according to a posting on Galloway’s Facebook page on Oct. 26, the couple is no longer engaged.

“After long and careful consideration we’ve decided to end our engagement. We love each other deeply and we’re confident we will remain friends,” read the post. “While we wanted to share this you, we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time.”

A few days after Galloway surprised Boyd by proposing on-air, he and his dancing partner, Sharna Burgess, took home bronze in the 20th season of Dancing with the Stars.

Galloway, a former U.S. Army sergeant, lost portions of his left arm and leg during a December 2005 improvised explosive device attack near Baghdad, Iraq. The Homes for our Troops organization recently constructed a new home for Galloway before presenting him with the keys before a Sept. 28 ceremony at the Hoover Met.
