Leila Hope, age 89, of Shelby, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 24.

The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 29 at Bolton Funeral Home with Pastor Chris DeGreen officiating. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Gardens.  Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 29, at Bolton Funeral Home.

Leila was a native of South Carolina. During WWII, she worked in a South Carolina Munitions factory while her husband served in the South Pacific. They brought their family to Homewood in 1960 and they retired to Shelby in 1987.

Mrs. Hope is preceded in death by her husband, James Monroe Hope; son, James Monroe Hope, Jr.; parents, Joe and Mae Collins Moseley and brothers, Wilburn Moseley, Joe Moseley, Jr. and Harry Moseley, Sr.

She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Elise Catron, Amy S. Hope, Ann Hope Jones (Earl), and Robin Hope; grandchildren, James E. Catron (Kelley), Amelia Hale (Kevin), Virginia Oleinick (Jason), Sara Diane Archibald (Skye), and Patrick Monroe Jones (Jackie); five great grandchildren; and numerous other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
