HOOVER—The Village at Lee Branch will soon be home to Alabama’s first Painting with a Twist location. According to the company’s website, the studio will open on Doug Baker Boulevard, near the Carmike Cinemas, South Boutique and Fitness Xpress.

Painting with a Twist combines “instructional art with friends, wine and a lively instructor to produce individual works of art,” the website reads.

During each session, painters follow an instructor to create a painting. Paintings include landscapes, city skylines, floral images and more. According to the company, instructors specially design each piece of art to be easy to follow and paint, so no prior experience is necessary.

Painting with a Twist was founded in Louisiana in 2007 by Renee Maloney and Cathy Deano. Originally called Corks N Canvas, the business grew from four locations near New Orleans to a national franchise operation.

There are currently more than 260 Painting with a Twist locations across the country, from California to Maine. The Lee Branch location will be the first franchise to open in the state.

Painting with a Twist will be located at 701 Doug Baker Blvd., Suite 106. Hours of operation and an opening date have not yet been posted. For more information, visit Paintingwithatwist.com/birmingham-hoover.
