A week after the boys’ Lakeshore Shootout took place, it was time for the girls to take the pitch in the early season soccer tournament. There were 16 varsity teams that competed in the tournament across three different divisions, and five of those varsity team were from Shelby County in Oak Mountain, Chelsea, the Westminster School at Oak Mountain, Helena and Pelham. The Lady Eagles from Oak Mountain were the only team who came away with a division title, winning the Gold division going away.

Oak Mountain and Chelsea took part in the Gold division along with James Clemens and Shades Valley, and the two Shelby County teams finished first and second among the four. The Lady Eagles had little trouble winning the division, as they beat James Clemens 4-0 to start and beat Shades Valley 11-0 as well. The only goal given up by the Lady Eagles in the tournament was to Chelsea, but the Lady Eagles still won that game 4-1 to finish the tournament with 29 points, and moved to 4-0-0 on the young season.

In the game against Chelsea, all five goals were scored in the first half. Nealy Martin, Alexandra Dunn, Hailey Whitaker and Julia Pack scored for the Lady Eagles in the game in the win. While Chelsea lost to Oak Mountain, the Lady Hornets easily beat Shades Valley and James Clemens via 7-0 and 3-0 results, respectively as Chelsea moved to 4-2-0.

Helena and Westminster at Oak Mountain both took part in the Silver division along with Decatur and Fort Payne. The Lady Knights from Westminster went 1-2 in the tournament, beating Helena 1-0 in the final game of the tournament in the division, while Helena went 0-3.

Pelham, the final team competing in the tournament, was the lone Shelby County team to compete in the Bronze division. The Lady Panthers went 0-2-1, with their only tie coming in the form of a 3-3 tie with Pinson Valley as Pelham moved to 1-2-1 on the year.
