Alton M. Crawford, Sr., age 88, of Calera, died Saturday, March 12.

The visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. with the service following at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 16 at Bolton Funeral Home–Shelby Memory Gardens with Bro. Rick Ousley officiating.

Mr. Crawford was a World War II Veteran. He was retired from the L&N/CSX Railroad as an agent/operator, former City Councilman, Mason and a member of Calera Baptist Church.

Mr. Crawford is preceded in death by his wife of 68-and-a-half years, Betty Andrews Crawford; parents, Leslie Christine, Sr. and Narcissa Dame Crawford; brother, Leslie C. Crawford, Jr. (Willie Jewel) and twin brother, Albert M. Crawford.

He is survived by his daughters, Donna C. Chandler (Michael) and Dale C. Wade (fiancé -Warren Gibson); son, Mickey Crawford (Kathy); grandsons, Chuck Holcomb (Lori), Bret Holcomb (Gene’t), Chad Holcomb, Chase Crawford (Sloan), and Chris Crawford; great grandchildren, Brittany, Blake, Cade, Holly, Addison and Brodie Holcomb, Jack Crawford and an eighth great grandchild expected in May; brothers, Gilbert Crawford (Shirley) and David Crawford (Libby); sister-in-law, Janice Crawford; and numerous other family and friends.
