Headley wins Shelby County Junior Miss

Jessica Headley danced her way to the title of Shelby County Junior Miss recently, wowing the crowd with her self-choreographed jazz dance to &uot;God Bless America.&uot;
Headley is a student at Hoover High School and the daughter of Art and Mary Headley.
First runner-up was Katie Boyd, also a student at Hoover. Second runner-up was Alison Kapp, an Oak Mountain High School student. Rounding out the top nine were Elizabeth Butler, Holly Morgan, Leah Miller, Anna Wickstrom, Dana LaRock and Bonnie Kilpatrick.
Several participants also received special preliminary awards. Elizabeth Butler received the preliminary talent award. Katie Boyd was the scholastic winner and Lauren Scalisi was the fitness winner. Holly Morgan won the presence and composure award and the Billie Hamilton Spirit of Junior Miss award was given to Mary Ann Barrett.
The &uot;Be Your Best Self&uot; essay contest winner was Erin Clyburn.
More than $13,000 in scholarship money was awarded to the 26 participants, one of the largest amounts in years. The program was held Aug. 2 and 3 at Pelham High School with the theme &uot;It’s a Girl Thing.&uot;
The program featured 2002 Shelby County Junior Miss Barrett Jackson who performed the ballet variation &uot;Sylvia&uot; en pointe that won a preliminary talent award at the state competition in January
