The whereabouts of a red 1998 Ford F-150 extended cab pickup truck could be the clue police need to solve the case of a Center Point man’s death.
Shelby County Sheriff’s Department officials reported that 25-year-old Hernan Torres’ body was found in the Cahaba River near Helena early Monday morning.
The deputies found the body submerged in the shallow water of the river near the Bibb County line. The area, according to local residents, is referred to as &uot;the slab&uot; and is a popular drinking spot. Deputies said Torres suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
The Sheriff’s Department
continue to seek assistance from the public in this case, said Chief Deputy Chris Curry. They want to hear from anyone who may have seen Torres and/or his truck late Sunday night into the early hours Monday morning.
Torres’ truck bears Alabama tag 8A1910B and was customized.
&uot;We know very little about Torres’ activities shortly before he was killed. We believe that someone may have seen Mr. Torres late Sunday night, and that person may have information important to this case,&uot; said Curry.
Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Torres or his truck late Sunday night is urged to contact the Sheriff’s department at 669-4181, he said
