Shelby County elected officials are hosting a Barbecue Benefit in honor of hometown candidate for state auditor Beth Chapman.

The host list is a virtual &uot;Who’s Who&uot; in Shelby County public service, and they’re inviting you to join them for the barbecue on Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Indian Springs Town Hall Pavilion.

There is no charge for the benefit, but donations to Chapman’s campaign will be accepted.

Hosts for the event include: Congressman Spencer Bachus, Sens. Jabo Waggoner, Steve French and Sen.-Elect Hank Erwin as well as their colleagues in the House of Representatives: Mike Hill, Mary Sue McClurkin, Jim Carns and Rep.-Elect Cam Ward.

Mayors Bobby Hayes, George Roy, Sonny Penhale, Gloria Tate, Gene Weingarten and Allan Lowe are participating in the event and are being joined by County Commission members Lindsey Allison, Larry Dillard, Dan Acker, Don Armstrong, Billy Thompson, Jimmy Bice, Ted Crockett and Joel Bearden.

Other elected officials hosting the event include Probate Judge Patricia Fuhrmeister, District Attorney Robby Owen, Sheriff James Jones and Republican nominee for sheriff Chris Curry.

Each of the public officials endorsed Chapman early on in her race for state auditor.

She has since defeated three statewide opponents to become the Republican nominee.
