Shelby County has extended the deadline for the Parks and Recreation Grant Program from July 7 to July 31.

Funding through the Shelby County Park and Recreation Grant Program is designed to parallel the facility development activities of Shelby County.

The grant program is designed to increase the user capacity of non-county-owned existing facilities; to secure property to increase the physical size of existing facilities; and to provide for the capital development of facilities in public areas which are not presently served.

To participate in this funding cycle, any eligible organization that wishes to apply should complete an application and return it to the Shelby County Department of Development Services, 1123 County Services Drive, Pelham, AL 35124 no later than the close of business (4:30 p.m.) on Thursday, July 31.
