Radio DJ killed in motorcycle accident

A 34-year-old Birmingham radio personality was killed in a three-vehicle accident early Sunday morning.

Alabama State Troopers report Bartell Coleman, 34, who made his home in the Eagle Point community of Shelby County, according to media reports, was fatally injured in an accident that occurred five miles north of Chelsea on Shelby County Highway 41.

According to troopers, Coleman was driving a 2000 Suzuki Motorcycle when the accident occurred at 3:50 a.m.

According to the station website and media reports, Coleman did an afternoon drive show on WBMU-FM 95.7 JAMZ, a Cox-owned radio station based in Birmingham, and is survived by his wife, Cassandra.

Also according to his website, Coleman’s message for his listeners was, &uot;Always believe in your dreams and keep it real.&uot;

Coleman reportedly joined WBMU FM 95.7 in 1997 and was known to his loyal listeners as &uot;Bartell Bartell.&uot;
