Three men who forced a North Shelby woman inside her home at gunpoint, tied her up and attempted to rob her are still at large.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home in the 1000 block of Heatherwood Trail in North Shelby County at about 1 p.m. on Monday.

Deputies met with Vicki Rice, a 47-year-old female, who reported that one white male and two black males approached her while she was working in her backyard.

The suspects entered and searched the home. Rice told deputies that one of the men was armed with a handgun.

Rice was restrained inside of the house by the men, according to sheriff’s reports, but she managed to escape unharmed while the suspects were searching the residence.

Rice went to a neighbor’s house where a 911 call was made, according to sheriff’s reports. The suspects fled on foot.

No arrests had been made at presstime.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office continued an investigation, with help from the Hoover Police Department.

Sheriff’s office administrators met with concerned residents Monday afternoon at the Heatherwood Country Club.

Capt. Chris Corbell said Monday that investigators had not determined whether the suspects had taken anything from Rice’s home
