Bruno’s Memorial Classic begins

The 13th Annual Bruno’s Memorial Classic benefiting Alabama charities is on tap for April 26 through May 2 bringing thousands of spectators to Shelby County.
The event played at Greystone Golf & Country Club features a $1.5 million purse
this year with $225,000 going to the winner.
Last year more than $715,000 were donated to more than 120 local and state charities. And over the course of its 12 year history, a total of $7 million have gone charities.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament
also has the distinction of featuring 12 different winners beginning with George Archer in 1992 and ending with Tom Jenkins last year.
Winners from 1993 through 2002 include Bob Murphy, Jim Dent, Graham Marsh, John Bland, Jay Sigel, Hubert Green, Larry Nelson, John Jacobs, Hale Irwin and Sammy Rachels.
The Pro-Am starts today, Wednesday, April 28 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. and continues on Thursday with at the same times. Also on Thursday at 9 a.m. the Georgia Pacific Grand Champions Pro-Am begin at 9 a.m..
The first round of the Bruno’s Memorial Classic begins on Friday with play
from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Bruno’s wraps up on Sunday with play from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. with awards immediately following the event
