A Columbiana man awaiting sentencing for manslaughter and the manufacture of methamphetamine has been arrested on additional methamphetamine related drug charges.

Danny Lee Hendrix, 50, of Yorkshire Road in Columbiana was arrested

Thursday, Sept. 23 by the Shelby County Drug Task Force on drug-related charges.

According to Capt. Ken Burchfield of the Task Force, Hendrix was charged with attempting to distribute a controlled substance,

possession of a controlled substance and unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance.

Burchfield said a tip was received, and the Task Force proceeded to the Hendrix residence for further investigation.

A subsequent search at the residence found a controlled substance and material for the manufacture of methamphetamine which led to arrest warrants be issued.

Bill Bostick, chief assistant district attorney for Shelby County, said Hendrix was out of jail on bond awaiting sentencing on Oct. 5 for a manslaughter charge for killing a man in a collision at the intersection of

county highways 26 and 70 while Hendrix was operating a dump truck under the influence of methamphetamine.

He said Hendrix had plead guilty to that charge.

Bostick said Hendrix was also awaiting sentencing on the same day on a charge of manufacturing methamphetamine.

Bostick said a motion to revoke Hendrix’s bond was granted.
