Christmas parade planned in Alabaster

The Alabaster Christmas parade, sponsored by the city’s Beautification Board, will be held Saturday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. The parade will begin at Keystone Plaza (the FoodSmart shopping center) on Highway 31 in Alabaster and end at Buck Creek Park, where the Beautification Board will be serving refreshments.
Among the some 100 entries will be floats from area churches, schools and civic organizations along with city and county officials, scouts, dance troops, motorcycles, car clubs, horses and Santa Claus.
Theme of the parade is &uot;Peace on Earth,&uot; and prizes will be given in six different categories.
State Rep. Cam Ward will be grand marshal of the parade. Women who have served in the U.S. military will be recognized as honorary marshals, represented by Joy Strong, U.S. Navy, Ret.; Clara Sawyer and Norma Ray, both U.S. Army, Ret.
