Girls Basketball

Homewood Thanksgiving Tournament – Spain Park 48, Homewood 37: Gena Morris’ Jaguars (5-0) downed the host Patriots in the championship game off a huge double-double by Spain Park’s Ashley Boler. Boler finished the night with 11 points and 13 rebounds while Sharidan Hollis scored 19 points and seven rebounds to keep the Jags undefeated.

Hartselle 55, Pelham 43: DaKita Johnson led all Pelham players with 19 points as the Panthers fell to Hartselle in the consolation game. The Panthers travel to Hewitt-Trussville Thursday before hosting Oak Mountain Monday.

Fayetteville Thanksgiving Tournament – Chelsea 50, Fayetteville 36: The Chelsea Hornets finished third in the Fayetteville Thanksgiving Tournament off a strong performance from Charlie Bowman. Bowman grabbed three rebounds and scored 20 points in the Hornet’s victory.

Lady Cougar Thanksgiving Classic – Oak Mountain 54, Cullman 44: The Eagles took fifth place off a big night from Anna Cramer, who paced Oak Mountain with 15 points. Two other Eagles scored in double figures as Janet Wilkerson and Tera Moore added 13 points apiece.

Boys Basketball

Fayetteville Thanksgiving Tournament – Chelsea 57, Marbury 25: Nearly everybody got into the scoring action over the holiday as the Chelsea Hornets downed Marbury in the championship game, with only two of Chelsea’s 13 players not scoring a point. Patrick Smith was the Hornet’s leading scorer with 11 points while D.J. McGuire had five points and five assist. James Alaniz also had eight points for the Hornets. The Hornet’s next game is Thursday night at Shelby County.

Racing City Classic -Calera 70, Talladega 48: The Calera Eagles swept through the Racing City Classic, downing the host team off a huge night from Tournament MVP George Drake. Drake, who has signed to play at Vanderbilt next season, led all Eagles with 20 points while Kyle Nichols contributed 15 points in the win. The Eagles host Vincent and Shelby County this week while traveling to Childersburg Saturday.

Sneaky Pete’s Rebel Classic – Hewitt-Trussville 46, Spain Park 41: Spain Park remained winless over the holidays as the Huskies scored a dramatic come-from-behind victory. Philips Williams led all Jags with nine points and Patrick Wells added eight points.

Thompson Holiday Classic

– Oak Mountain 61, Albertville 45: Oak Mountain remained perfect over the holidays by winning the Thompson Holiday Classic. Andrew Chesney, the tournament MVP, had a strong night with 13 points while Micah McKinney led all Eagles with 19 points in the championship game. McKinney and Tyler Gallimore were also named to the all-tournament team. The Eagles host Thompson Friday before traveling to Pelham Tuesday.

Decatur 52, Thompson 51: The host Warriors dropped a heartbreaker when a five-second violation was called on Thompson, thus turning the ball over, in the final 16 seconds of the game. Forward Gary Cunningham led all Warriors with 13 points while fellow all-tournament selection Michael Hall added 12 points. The Warriors play a pair of away games at Oak Mountain Friday and at Vestavia Tuesday.

Vincent Invitational -Shelby County 71, Vincent 52: Shelby County remained unbeaten as the Wildcats downed the Yellow Jackets in the championship game. Four Wildcat players finished in double digits as Cortez Cotton led Shelby County with 17 points. Mike Moore finished the night with 11 points while Josh Dikis and Jason Marchuck both added 10 apiece. Desmond Yowe paced the Yellow Jackets with 17 points. The Yellow Jackets travel to Calera Friday before hosting Montevallo Monday and Fayetteville Tuesday
