Playoff scores, Chelsea advances to second round

Chelsea defeated Andalusia 4-3 Wednesday to advance to the second round of the AHSAA baseball playoffs in Class 4A.

The Hornets will travel to take on Thomasville in a best-of-three series this weekend.

Chelsea was the only team from Shelby County to advance past the first round.

In Class 2A, Calera fell to Red Level at home, 16-6, and Briarwood lost to Monroe County, 10-8, in 5A.

Spain Park was edged out by Shades Valley, 5-3.

The AHSAA state finals will be held at Montgomery’s Riverwalk and Paterson fields May 18-21.
