A longtime and well-respected Shelby County judge will be sworn in to the Alabama Supreme Court on Friday.

Judge Patti Smith will become Associate Justice Patti Smith during an investiture ceremony in Montgomery.

Alabama State Auditor and Shelby County resident Beth Chapman served as Smith’s campaign manager during her quest for the Alabama Supreme Court.

According to Chapman, who serves on Smith’s Robing Committee, Judge Smith will maintain an office in Columbiana as well as Montgomery.

Other members of her Robing Committee include her husband, Jerry Smith; her children, Jarrett and Shelley; and her parents, Col and Mrs. Andy Mungenast.

A reception will follow Friday’s ceremony at Embassy Suites in Montgomery.
