The Pelham Civic Complex will be revving and roaring this week as the 2005 Alabama State Harley-Davidson HOG Rally comes to town Thursday through Saturday.

Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiasts from around the nation will flock to the complex starting tomorrow to participate in the three day event that site coordinator Margaret Davis calls &uot;the largest in the state.&uot;

&uot;This is the largest rally of its kind,&uot; Davis said. &uot;We bring the most people in because we’re centrally located and we have the most to offer.&uot;

The rally will host over 2,000 Harely’s and their owners from around the U.S., with riders coming from as far away as Arizona.

The event will give people a chance to go behind-the-scenes of the Barber Motorsports Museum and ride along with the Harley Test Riders as part of the Talladega Super Speedway Experience.

A number of music groups and stars will be on hand for the event both Friday and Saturday night with Elvis tribute artist David Lee and the Beatles tribute band American English entertaining the crowd on Friday. Miss Alabama 2004 Shannon Camper will make an appearance on Saturday and the Classic Southern Rockers, featuring former members of the band Lynyard Skynyard Bob Burns and Mike Estes, will round out the rally’s events with a tribute to the famous southern rock group.

Throughout the rally, riders will have a chance to take one of more than 20 guided motorcycle tours through the Alabama countryside. Riders will have a chance to visit everywhere from Vulcan Park in Birmingham to the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum in Calera as part of the tour program. There will also be a police motorcycle skills competition along with a number of other musical acts and performances.

&uot;We have a great time,&uot; Davis said. &uot;We all love to ride and there’s plenty to do for the entire family.&uot;

Davis said the rally serves as a great way for people to get to know others with similar interests.

&uot;All of the riders are involved in various organizations around the state and nation,&uot; she said. &uot;The rally is a great way for people to network and meet other Harley enthusiasts.&uot;
