The Shelby County Sheriff’s office obtained warrants for the arrest of Desmond Dewayne Turner on Friday for burglary and theft of property at an apartment home at the Colonial Village apartments.

On May 7, deputies responded to a call from the apartment complex after a female resident reported she woke up to a black male in black shorts and a black shirt ransacking her apartment, officials said.

The intruder forced the woman into a closet at gunpoint and escaped with a number of items from the home.

With the help of Pelham

Police and a tip from the local Crimestoppers program, Shelby County officials were able to enhance video surveillance tapes from the apartment complex and identify Turner as the culprit.

Officials describe Turner as 27 years old, five-feet-eight-inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds.

&uot;His whereabouts are still unknown at this time,&uot; Shelby County Sheriff’s Capt. Chris Corbell said.

&uot;With his history, we are considering him armed and dangerous, and we are advising citizens not to contact him directly but to notify authorities immediately with information they might have.&uot;

Anyone with information regarding Turner’s whereabouts or the case should contact the sheriff’s office at 669-4181.
