Church focus: Living Word Church
Published 12:00 am Tuesday, November 15, 2005
Living Word Church is an interdenominational church serving the city of Pelham and surrounding areas.
The church is pastored by Truett Murphy, who founded Living Word with his wife Susan in his home in 1978. The church has since grown in size to have its own building and 12 acres of land on the north edge of Pelham.
The church has a number of ministries and outreaches focused on the surrounding community and beyond. From its beginnings Living Word has annually devoted 12 to 25 percent of its undesignated offerings to missions support. The church currently supports 15 missionaries and ministries around the world each month.
The church supports missionaries in Israel, Kenya, Mexico, Russia and across the United States.
&8220;Living Word is an independent, spirit-filled church,&8221; the church’s website reads. &8220;Yet, at the same time we work with many other churches in promoting the gospel. We love all of the body of Christ and are actively involved with Christians from other churches.&8221;
The church offers activities for adults, teens and children throughout the week.
&8220;It is our desire to train up our children to love the Lord and to serve him even at an early age,&8221; the website said.
&8220;We want our children to be prepared to face the future with a knowledge of the Bible and an understanding of how to live a victorious Christian life.&8221;
