Pelham police officers used fingerprints left at the crime scene to make an arrest in the case of a robbed hotel near Highway 119.

Raheem Deontay Ramsey, 29, was taken into police custody earlier this month for allegedly holding up the Best Western at Oak Mountain and making out with some $300, according to Lt. Scott Tucker, head of the investigations division at the Pelham Police Department.

Authorities responded to a burglary call at the business at around 12:45 a.m. on Oct. 25, where a clerk reported being tied up at gunpoint and robbed, Tucker said.

The perpetrator allegedly entered the hotel lobby, used the restroom and filled out a job application before revealing a handgun.

&8220;The application was such that we were able to lift his prints,&8221; Tucker said.

Checking a database, officers matched the prints to Ramsey, recently out on parole for a prior robbery conviction.

By contacting Ramsey’s parole officer, officers were able to locate Ramsey at his place of employment in Alabaster where he was arrested without incident on charges of first-degree robbery, Tucker said
