Student of the Week: Anna Virginia Seabury

Anna Virginia Seabury, a 9-year-old fourth grader at Vincent Elementary School, is Shelby County Reporter Student of the Week.
Vincent Elementary principal Beverly Miller selected her for the honor.
&8220;Anna (Virginia) is one of the most likeable kids all around,&8221; Miller said. &8220;She is always smiling. Her enthusiasm and energy are contagious.
&8220;Anna Virginia excels in academics and plays softball for fun. She is constantly putting forth her best effort in everything. Most importantly, her teacher says she is helpful and kind to all the students she comes in contact with.&8221;
Anna Virginia is the daughter of Ted and Dee Seabury. Her mother is a substitute at VES, and her father is band director at Calera Middle/High School.
She has one brother, Bailey, age 14, who attends Calera Middle/High. She is the granddaughter of Robert and Charlotte Seabury and Carolyn Godwin.
Her favorite subject is math. She said she loves to do long division and long multiplication because they take longer and are easier.
Her favorite teacher is Barbara Snead (B.J.), &8220;Because she makes sure you know everything and that you understand it correctly.&8221; She also said Snead is &8220;fun&8221; and &8220;nice&8221; and &8220;she can be silly very well.&8221;
Anna Virginia is running for treasurer of the student council and made straight As this year. She is in the Gifted Program and last year won the A Average Award.
She plays softball for the Pelham Power Balls, who won two tournaments last fall.
Anna Virginia said she also likes to play outside with her brother.
In addition, she was in a musical at Helena United Methodist Church and will be in the lead role of a Christmas musical at VES this year. She also plays piano.
Her favorite superhero is Harry Potter.
&8220;The books are great and he saves a couple of people in &8216;Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’ and saves a couple of animals.&8221;
She said she has read Harry Potter books one through three.
Anna Virginia isn’t quite sure what the future will hold for her.
She said she likes to play football. But she said she plans to go to college at Troy University or the University of Alabama because both have good band programs
